It is no wonder Sir Arthur Doyle killed Sherlock off then tried to shove him into retirement over and over and over again after being forced to bring him back from the dead.
I love Sherlock; conceptually.
As both a teenager and a undergrad student, I read the beloved adventures of Sherlock and Watson, ‘Hounds of the Baskervilles’, ‘A Study in Scarlet’, ‘The Red-Headed League’, ‘A Scandal in Bohemia’ and of course, “The Final Problem”; loving every page
I’l have watched and re-watched the Sherlock movies and series (Enola Holmes included), lauding the screen adaptions as well as the stories in their original written form to all who would listen.
Thus inspired, I decided to read ‘The Complete Works of Sherlock Holmes’. A read that felt much like this year of 2020, in that it felt never ending.
No one needs this much Sherlock.
Sherlock himself even found these stories egregious.
Read the well known ones, watch the movies and the series, but no need to slog through this much of it.
