Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

After reading the prequel, I had to force myself to read this book. Yes, FORCE myself.
I was so heartbroken after THE ASSASSIN’S BLADE that I didn’t want to read a series without some of the characters I had just met, loved and lost.

This book was completely different. The main character was a whole different person, now. A different timeline, a different scenario, a different adventure.
The cover has a little review saying that “Fans of Game of Thrones and the Hunger Games will love it” and it really gave me those survival game vibes, which I really enjoy. I think the only other book I’ve read like this was CARAVAL (but this was a much more violent version lmao).

And it felt hella good to fall in love again with this new version of the character and with the other new characters that came in. SJM has this huge talent of being able to introduce whichever character she chooses into our hearts and to give us a huge depression afterwards when they’re gone :)
I’ve felt that happening with Nesta, Rhys and oh there are so many others coming.

I’m reading these first few books of the series and my uppermost thoughts are “oh I’m already suffering with this series but so many worse things are coming, I CAN’T WAIT TO BE TOTALLY DEPRESSED” and honestly that’s worrying me, do I need mental help?

Needless to say, it’s a 5/5 read for me, even though the prequel holds a really special place in my heart.
