Woman at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi

4.5

I came across this book through the StoryGraph Reads the World challenge, and I’m so glad I joined. Set in Cairo, Egypt, it offered me a glimpse into a world far from my own in the Netherlands —both geographically and historically. The story delivers a powerful message about patriarchy and the influence of men on society. Knowing it's based on real events makes it even more impactful. While my own country has made progress, it's still far from perfect, and the issues in this book remain a reality for many women, such as those in Afghanistan. This is a very important book to read, for everyone.
