Losing Eden: Why Our Minds Need the Wild by Lucy Jones

4.0

Very good overall, exploring all the ways that humans, as part of nature, benefit from greater connection with the natural world.

However, there were quite a few generalisations and misconceptions about mental health and neurodivergence, which frustrated me while reading.
Rising numbers of people diagnosed with ADHD has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with disconnection from nature, and is purely due to better understanding and recognition of neurodiversity.
And I found it a difficult read in places. I am a full time gardener who spends most of their time outdoors and spends time in nature in my spare time too, but I still suffer from chronic mental illness. Listening to bird song doesn't take away my intrusive thoughts.

So read with caution, it could be upsetting to readers with mental health struggles.
