The Monster by L.J. Shen
4.0
I feel bad for Sam. His mom didn't want him so she left him with his aunt and uncle at age 9. He had a very rough 9 years leading up to that event, which I think helped shape him into the man he was in this book.
Ainsling wanted to be a doctor. After having a co-dependent mother, she wanted to be able to take care of others as an adult. What she says she's doing for work vs what she's actually doing are two very different types of medicine.
The two meet after a life altering event happens for Ainsling. She falls head over heels for Sam but the feelings aren't mutual. Or so she's led to believe. Ten years later she's still seeing Sam since he "works" for her father and family. She works hard on rekindling a relationship while he works harder on his revenge plot for those that did him wrong .
