Not a book I would have normally read, but, I'm glad I did.  It's an excellent read: entertaining,  well-written. sometimes disturbing.   I thought it well-written, and was fascinated and challenged by the setting, and the focus:  post-WW2 Atlanta, Georgia, and the city's first black police officers.
Jim Crow is alive, well and dominant.  Mullen pulls no punches: the bigotry is blatant, violence against people of colour is the norm, and the despair of many in the black community painful.
