When Sparks Fly by Helena Hunting
5.0
I’ve read a few Helena Hunting books in the past and have enjoyed each one and her latest was no exception to that! Her writing styles is addictive with hints of humor and emotion that makes it difficult to put down.
This romance is another best friends to lovers trope and I did really like Avery and Declan’s relationship. Avery has always been considered “one of the guys” and while I know this may not be some people’s cup of tea, I genuinely enjoy it being that I’ve always been a bit of a sporty one myself. I found both characters to be relatable and enjoyed following along on both their narratives, plus not to mention the crazy tension that developed between the two of them throughout!
I found that Avery’s car accident resulting in Declan becoming her caregiver to be an interesting plot line as it introduced elements such as overcoming adversity and guilt. While the cover looks all light and fluffy, there is definitely some emotional depth within its pages surrounding both characters that made for a thoughtful read. I also liked how Avery and Declan’s steady transition from friends to romance wasn’t smooth and included some bumps on the road because I felt it depicted real life relationship hardships.
The other aspect of the story I enjoyed was just learning about all the Sparks sisters and their family background, their careers and love they have for the family business, and the support they have for each other. I am honestly super excited to read each sisters’ story, carrying on next with London!
