The Reunion by Elizabeth Drummond

3.0

The tropes this book included are some of my favorite as a romance reader. The beginning of the book was a little slow for me but it picked up about halfway through and really captured my attention. I didn’t feel much for the heroine Posy until she started showing her more vulnerable side to Lucas and proved that she wasn’t just a disposable, rich, entitled brat. Lucas was a likable character from the start and I really liked the character development he went though by the end of the book. The whole premise of the story was pretty far fetched and laughable but I actually enjoyed the absurdity of it. The fake marriage was just the start of the shenanigans. Include the oversight by the college’s staff and it just felt like nothing was going to work out.

The relationship that forged between the two main characters was sweet. I liked how they became friends and started confiding in each other. Their love was pretty fast, given the timeline of the story but it wasn’t over the top unrealistic.

The Reunion was a delightful debut novel and I thought overall it was a good love story. The book was a little on the wordy side and could have flowed better with some more editing but all in all, I liked it.
