I really don't get the hype over this book. So many inconsistencies in the characters and the plot. As many reviews have already pointed out, the seemingly neurodivergent hero of the story seems at times very astute with social queues sometimes and then other times seems totally lost. There are also some very problematic tropes, like the "super positive person of color who helps the white protagonist see the bright side of things." That being said, I was interested enough in the story to finish it and the problematic trope mentioned above then "gets the girl" in the end, so that was a nice switch-up.
