It took me sooooo long to read this book. I really enjoyed the writing style, and overall, I liked the character studies and their progression throughout, but every time I put the book down, there was nothing gripping me to pick it back up again. I got through the last 25% the fastest, but I don't know if it was pulling me in more than the rest of it, or if I was just really trying to finally finish it.
I will definitely try more books by V E Schwab. I just think that this particular one, with the meandering nature of going through hundreds of years learning about these characters, failed to have the hook that I needed to really, truly love it. But the writing, the character work, the vibes...they were really well done.
