A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine

5.0

Absolutely marvelous book of palace intrigue as Lsel Station ambassador Mahit Dzmare is summoned to Teixcalaan to replace the previous ambassador. Poetry, history, storytelling, architecture, all of them are important as the history of the Teixcalaan Empire informs the actions of its citizens. She gains a new ally in her liaison, Three Seagrass, and the two of them figure out just what happened to her predecessor.

About 2/3 of the way through, I was saddened because I was enjoying the book SO MUCH. Then after it ended, there was a sizeable preview of a forthcoming sequel and I was quite relieved. Definitely want to know everything about this world.
