This volume covers most of the first test to become a First Class mage. I got a little more context for characters in the manga than I got watching the anime. I was very surprised to discover how old Wirbel was. His character design makes him look a lot younger than he states being. (he's in his 30s, and I thought he was around 20)
The test felt more high stakes reading it than it did watching it. I do try to review the manga with out the context of the anime, but it's hard not to.
I am very excited to read the next volume.
