I first read this years ago, when it first came out. So I had the gist of the plot already in mind before I started my second reading. There is magic in this book. It really came alive for me and almost felt like the first time all over again. It is a bit of an intimidating size, but no words are wasted. Everything links together beautifully and move the story forwards. Fantastic storytelling from a master of his craft. (Although I do find with Stephen King books they are either totally amazing or utter nonsense.) Some of the most gorgeous characters every created are caught up in this story. I LOVE Duddits, Jonesy, Henry, Beaver and Pete. Their friendship and adventures are awesome. But Duddits is my favourite! Who couldn't use a bit of his magic in their lives?
