I cannot sing enough praises for this book.
This book is an anthology of stories surrounding a singular village that serves as the main setting. Each chapter represents a story of a different person, at a different point in time, as their life relates to the village. Sprinkled throughout is the POV from the land itself.
The whimsical writing doesn’t feel out of place, and is easy to follow. It only adds to the tale of this inspired by real life, but based in fiction village. Each character’s story is unique, but overlayed (as we are all connected to each other).
Drawing inspiration from ecological principles and environmentalism, the author takes on a fantastical journey that reminds us to “stop and smell the roses.” That’s to say, how important it is to live in the moment and to respect our natural world.
