This is a beautiful book that is about girls from around the world who are 18 years old or are just about to turn 18. All the photographs are also taken by young women who live near the featured teens. The teens were interviewed, being asked questions such as: where do you see yourself in 5 years, who do you go to for advice, what's something you'd like to learn, etc. Full color photos throughout that are candid and evocative. The photographer also gets a page about themselves with two text boxes - one for a little known fact about themselves and one for what they do when they are not taking pictures.
While probably meant for a high school audience, the sparse text and colorful pictures make the appeal of this book much broader, appropriate for grades 6-12 at the minimum. I could see many ways to incorporate this into classroom projects. In the back, there is also an ask for older people to add their pictures of themselves at 18 and words of advice for themselves at age 18. Highly recommend as a way to get to know people and cultures from around the world, similarities and differences.
