Changeless by Gail Carriger

A good, but not quiet great book. I did find this book easier to read than the first book in the series, but it still has it's flaws.

This books is more focused on werewolves and more specifically Alexia's husband's old pack that live in Scotland. Werewolves in kilts sound like a perfectly acceptable idea to me. We also get more insight into why Lord Maccon left Scotland and came to London in the first place.

I did like Alexia more in this book. She came off more practical rather than cold and sometimes humorously so. Though for all of her written about wit, there are times when she is a little dense and I am not sure if the reader is also supposed to be so slow to put the pieces together or not.

Despite liking Alexia more, I found myself not really caring about the other cast of characters. Alexia's half-sister Felicity written to be annoying on purpose--so mission accomplished. Ivy, Alexia's best friend, is amusing at first as her bumbling, clueless companion, but I found even she grew a little tiresome.

I did like getting more hints to Alexia's Father besides his 'extensive' book collection. I think that he is fascinating and the author is setting him up to be quiet the mysterious character. I hope that comes into play in the later books.

There are some new interesting ideas that are added to this world that I appreciate. More information about the soulless, the steampunk technology, Britain's military campaigns with werewolves and a little alternative history.

This book also leaves us with two cliffhangers instead of wrapping up nicely like the first one did. I am intrigued and I will continue to read the next in the series.
