I am really surprised to find myself doing this because I loved Hamnet and assumed I would love this too, but I can’t get through this. And believe me, I love beautifully-written historical fiction and it takes a lot for me to say something is overwritten, but for me, this is overwritten. Maybe it’s just where my head is at right now and maybe I’ll return to this eventually, but I can’t keep trying to slog through it just now.
