Countdown by Lynette Eason

5.0

What an exciting fourth book in the Extreme Measures series! It’s another edge of your seat thriller from Lynette Eason that had me quickly turning the pages. I easily devoured this in a day because it was so hard to put down. It’s a well written, inspirational, romantic suspense with endearing characters, an original plot, and a cruel, dangerous stalker.

Flight paramedic Raina Price has secrets and hopes she’s finally escaped her past. When she sees a familiar looking twelve year old boy on tv who’s a talented Olympic hopeful, she worries that his life may be in danger. Though Raina has a difficult time opening up and trusting others, she decides to override her fears and trust handsome US Marshall Vince Corelli when he offers his help.

Vince Corelli’s been intrigued by Raina since he first met her. She always seemed so out of reach, but when she agrees to go to dinner with him and finally opens up, he vows to do everything in his power to help her. But, in addition to the boy, Raina’s life is in danger when her past finally catches up to her. Will he be able to protect both Raina and the young boy before it’s too late?

From North Carolina to the Colorado mountains, this book was one wild ride full of twists and turns! There were so many suspenseful moments and things I didn’t see coming. Balanced with the action and mystery is an enjoyable romance between Vince and Raina. Raina struggles with her fears and having faith. She also worries about how others will perceive her. Vince also has things in his past he regrets and I enjoyed the way these two worked through their struggles together.

It’s an action-packed, suspenseful, nail-biter that’ll keep you reading late into the night, with a sweet, tender romance and touch of faith. Highly recommend this entire series! Though it’s the fourth book, it can definitely be read as a standalone. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher.
