She who Became the Sun is a beautiful historical epic. It follows the journey of a girl determined to survive poverty and famine. Her decisions lead her into a world controlled by power hungry men, and she realizes what it will mean to claim a fate not her own. If she is to be anything more than what her father saw, a girl fated for nothingness, she will have to believe and become someone else.

I give this book 4/5 for an amazing cast of characters, tense scenes, powerful females, masters of manipulation, and characters who portray deep layers of emotion.
