The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz

5.0

Never read a 5 star thriller before but I guess there is a first time for everything. Normally I pick up triller as brain fodder, allowing it to absorb me and forget about the world for a second. This book gripped me way beyond entertainment though. Each of the characters were well thought out and the part they played in the story was sensical and realistic.

This book kept the thrill coming. I find so often thrillers build and build and build tension only to release it over the span of 20 pages at the end of the book. But the ups and downs this book takes you through is so intense. The plot twist that I guessed happened and there were still 150 pages left of the book. Julia Bartz goes way beyond what is expected of a normal thriller and creates an entrancing situation in which as hard as you try and guess you'll never see everything going on.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and read the whole thing in one day. Literally could not put it down.
