Nothing much ever happens in the sleepy town of Fairhill, Vermont. Then, one morning, a local farmer discovers the naked body of a young teenager in his field.
The girl, Diana Brewer, was murdered. Someone knows who did it, and it’s up to the police to find out who.
Immediately after the discovery of Diana’s body we’re introduced to a large cast of characters. From friends to teachers and those who were on the periphery, they all impacted Diana’s life in some way - and the police know someone is hiding something. We follow events as the police start the process of working out the identity of the killer.
Along the way we learn some unpleasant truths about a number of residents. It’s clear that nobody can ever be sure what goes on behind closed doors. The truth, when it comes, is not that much of a shock. It certainly casts a different light on much of what we’ve read.
