Soldiers of Salamis by Javier Cercas

3.5

A book about writing a book about two men who may or may not have met face to face. Absorbing study into the memory and legacy of war, and the recognition of heroes (if such a thing exists). Who gets treated as a hero after war, and who is left to continue fighting?

I didn't love the way the book was written, but I enjoyed the story immensely.
