New Vintage Type: Classic Fonts for the Digital Age by Steven Heller

4.0

I've amassed a modest library of these coffee table type books on design, color, font, etc. I think of them as reference volumes. I usually flip through them once, and then dust starts to collect before the cover gets cracked again. Let's face it. That's the definition of coffee table book.

New Vintage Type has been living on my coffee table for about six weeks, but a coffee table book it is decidedly not. I look at it during commercial breaks, while I'm waiting for the Thai food delivery, and sometimes in the morning before I leave for work—even when I'm late, which is every day. It is pretty but also readable. A one-of-a-kind font reference volume.
