I tried. I really did. I started with the audiobook but the narrator's voice was so annoying. When I first heard about the podcast, I was intrigued. I couldn't get past the first episode because of his voice. I don't know why I thought the audiobook would be better.
Then I tried reading the text book. Ooohh, no, it was trying so hard to be edgy, different, strange, sly, twee, etc. Just as obnoxious as the narrator. I like weird stories. I like alternate realities. WTNV has all the hallmarks of being one of my favorites, but it is too much effort and not a lot of substance. If more time was put towards advancing the storyline and not drowning the text in "odd stuff," it would have been more palatable.
Guess I'm just not cool enough to "get" it, but if this is what the cool kids are into, then I'm going to pass and find myself something better conceived and better written.
