"Monstrilio" is an incredibly weird book. A mother takes a piece of her dead son's lung and feeds it, which results in a new creature. The story focuses on grief, parenthood, and identity. I was completely enthralled with this story. It was just so bizarre and sad, and I wanted to know what would happen to everyone so badly. The story is so well-crafted, and I can't believe this book is a debut.
