The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by S.A. Chakraborty
5.0
this book was a blast, i had so much fun reading it. it’s been a long time since i’ve read a proper fantasy book. it was fun because it was so high stakes, had historical and proverbial teaching, and was written SO unbelievably well. i’ve never read from this author before, but needless to say i will be reading much more of hers in the future. Amina is an incredible, hearty, complicated main character and following along her pirate adventures while trying to balance her life after retirement and care for her daughter was an amazing story. i loved our side characters, the plot was really well done, and it was chronically readable. a new favorite of the year and of all time. 5 stars.
