Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death, and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity by Katherine Boo
5.0
An honest look at poverty in a Mumbai slum that looks primarily through the eyes of some of its youth, while avoiding becoming "poverty porn" or something. Adults aren't neglected, though. Nor is the rampant corruption within India, which, if this book's slice of Indian life translates to all of India, shows no signs of ending or even abating any time soon.
