I went into this book somewhat blind but having heard plenty of good things, so it surprised me, but in a good way. Red Rising is reminiscent of The Hunger Games, but I would argue it has a darker tone, not just in the plot but in the way that it peels apart the ugliness of the world's "Society". It really appeals to my love of political strategy,
and Darrow's internal conflict of becoming the Gold that he so despises is just masterfully done
. Overall, a fantastic book, and I can't wait to read the rest of the trilogy!
