Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch

5.0

I haven't been able to write any other reviews because my mind has been so absorbed by this book. It is honestly one of my new favourite books and I can't wait to see what happens in the second book.

I had heard so much good about this book and found myself utterly craving to know why, that when my local stores didn't have it stocked, I ended up just getting it on my kindle as quickly as I could. I had to put this book down a few times to read other books for other reasons due to dead lines on them, but it was so easy to pick this book back up and enter the world once more. It was almost like being welcomed back by a good friend.

I loved the characters of this book, loved the plot, the twists, the heartaches. I loved Meira, despite being strong, she was a far more complicated character than just this. This was a girl that simply wanted to matter to her people, and to her rag tag sort of family. She was upset to kill someone, to have her choices taken from her, and was simply utterly real.

I really loved the writing and the way the author brought this world to life. I loved the way the story used magic and how it effected the world. I honestly want to know more and I want more people to read this book and love it like I did.
