Jeremy and Cecily were the pair I was most looking forward to in the Legacy of Gods series, but sadly this is my least favorite so far. I’m frustrated that after over 400 pages, they don’t seem to have changed at all? Sure we learn more about them, their histories and what makes them tick, but there is little to no plot in this book - so after a time, their conversations and disruptions end up feeling extremely repetitive. Because of the timing of this book, which takes place in sync with God of Pain, the relationship is the only touchpoint to advance the story. We know everything else. And sadly, I just didn’t feel like there was enough here to keep you engrossed in it. I was almost too happy to be done with this book, which felt like a side quest that went on for too long, so I could get back to the main story. Jeremy is definitely a top tier MMC, if a little one note. Cecily gets done a bit of disservice in the story as her trauma is the focus more than her character.
I really enjoy Rina Kent’s writing style and will definitely continue with the series, I just think this one was a miss for me.
