A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard

2.0

Back in 2009 when I saw in the news that Jaycee Dugard had been found, I knew that if she ever wrote a book about her experience, I would definitely read it. It pains me to say this but this book was BEYOND disappointing. It is written by Jaycee herself who has a fifth grade education level; she is no writer and it shows. The book was flat, disjointed, repetitive and extremely boring. It could have greatly benefited from a ghost writer and some serious editing. It contained none of the grip I expected from a story like this. I learned more about Jaycee’s love of kitties, birdies, doggies and horseys than I did about her abduction, abductors, children… basically anything I was hoping to learn about her ordeal.
I would give this book one star but I’ll throw in another one just as sympathy for what she went through.
