I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios

While I could have done without how many modern references their were in terms of brands and music, this story is really great. I loved the look at PTSD and what life is like post-return from military service from the point of view of an outsider. It's not romanticized, even though this is a romance. Josh is injured, and this story doesn't stray from working through what that means on a physical and mental level.

Sky wasn't exceptionally defined as a character, but that was okay. The small town, the poverty, and the threats of losing everything you have were very well done. Sky's having to take on a second job to support her family -- as well as her future dreams -- were realistic. It was refreshing to see this sort of class and rural setting.

I loved
Spoiler the consent in the sex scene, as it came from not just Josh to Skylar, but from Skylar to Josh, too. The mutual exploration, discussion, and trust they had there was really well done
.

There were a lot of parallels to My Best Everything, and this would also make for a great read alike to Trish Doller's Something Like Normal.

I blew through this book in mostly one sitting.
