The Player + The Pact = I Do by Louise Bay
4.0
This is the second book in this series, and this follows Jules and Leo.
Leo and Jules met at a party two years prior, and, even though Jules dresses in costume (as she thought that the party WAS a costume party), Leo is immediately taken, and the attraction is mutual. Thru a misunderstanding on our FMC's part, this is where the interaction ends. Jules immediately dubs Leo a player.
Leo is recovering from being used by a woman trying to get close to Bennett in the first book, and there is a childhood relationship that has left him gun shy, and wary. He is told he is set to received "Developer of the Decade", but, this award will be attended/hosted by the said woman who broke his heart all those years ago. He was going to marry her. Jules is his personal assistant, but she has her sights set on managing the hotel, The Mayfair, that Leo owns. Leo, decides he needs to show the woman who broke his heart, and her family, that, he is not only Developer of the Decade, but in a strong relationship, one where he will be getting married, hence, time for operation fake fiancee.
Jules pitches herself to fulfil that role, in exchange for a chance to prove that the needs to get rid of the current manager of The Mayfair, in favour of her. Hence, making a pact. The initial connection from that party two years ago is still there, and Jules sees very early on, that Leo isn't what she had assumed, and Leo learns to see that not all women are like Caroline and Nadia. Of course, is group of best friends are there to help him navigate his feelings and concerns. Even though there is a crossover of characters, this book can be read as a standalone, and would be easily understood. It was good, Leo and Jules are two souls who needed to see the good in themselves and each other, and leave the past, where it belongs.
