Infernal Devices by Philip Reeve

3.0

This book was rather disappointing compared to the last one. It introduced new characters and I disliked all of them. Wren was naive and ungrateful, yet another character who seemed to exist to disrespect Hester. Tom was once again useless and soft, undoing lots of character development from the last book.

I understand that this book is set many years after the last two and I thought that this worked in some aspects: I enjoyed Freya and Caul's characters. I wouldve liked more development of Caul, but that wasn't an option apparently.

The ending of the book was the only bit that really intrigued me. It ended on a cliffhanger and although it was cliched, it was better than most of the other storylines.
