rosvia 's review for:
Think Again
by Jacqueline Wilson
This is the most disappointing read of the year. I have to agree with a lot of the other reviews - Ellies thoughts haven’t matured since she was a teenager which is probably why the “dating my old art teacher” plot line felt so gross?? And the cousin plot line… HUH???
None of the characters felt as though they had any depth at all, not even Ellie really? The stream of consciousness style of writing was so repetitive and flip floppy that it bored me to tears. I do not need to know every action that a character does.
I also hated the narrative that Nadine was wrong for wanting to be choked rather than the man who dismissed her withdrawal of consent.
Also the ending felt so rushed?? It was, of course, very obvious that a sapphic revelation would be happening. However, to end it on “we kissed once and lived happily ever after” with only a few pages of vague realisation does NOT HIT
The only positive I can say is this did give me nostalgic vibes - but that’s all
I really hope JW learns from this book, maybe her writing style isn’t fit for adult writing
