A funny book about how Dr. Youn became the doctor he is today. I don't know who he is because I don't watch much daytime TV, FoxNews or read the magazines he's in - okay, I read RADAR. I was drawn to the book for it's cover and after reading a few pages, I was hooked. The author and their co-writer add a lot of humor and the way the book is divided makes it very accessible (Pre-Med [which cover his childhood up to his college years], and then each year of med school gets its own section).

This books makes me want to become a doctor. He talks about how rough med school is, but also the moments when he becomes deeply engaged with patients and even body parts. The books is incredibly funny, like when the students are called in to witness a live birth, but they all stare at the mother's feet because she had an extra pinky on each foot. The book is also sweet when it chronicles his love life. I also like how it follows his progression to becoming a plastic surgeon. He even interns with a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon and there are moments of pathos just like when he works with Midwesterners who have lost a digit - except the former clientele is prettier and much more needy. The prologue threw me for a loop, but it prepares you for the rest of the book and is a funny hook. A funny medical memoir that I heartily recommend.
