Hayalet by Jo Nesbø

dark mysterious tense fast-paced

Jo Nesbo is the king of thrillers and Harry Hole is one of my favorite protagonists ever. Despite my love for the series, I didn’t enjoy this as much as the previous ones for the following reason: I don’t like Rakel, Oleg and I don’t like the cases involving drug traffic. So Harry is back in Oslo after a few years in Hong Kong. He is sober and not a detective anymore. Oleg is now a junkie, a drug dealer and is in prison for murder and Harry comes back to rescue him and solve the case. There were corrupt cops, drug cartels etc which I didn’t really care about. I guessed the old boss right, which never happens in a Nesbo book. This was a page-turner, a very well written thriller, but it’s not on the same amazing level as The Snowman, The Nemesis, The Redeemer etc..
