WHERE’S THE TWIST, FREIDA?!
This is the third book of hers in a row that I haven’t liked. However, usually the twist makes them worth reading. This one didn’t even have that going for it.
I hated so many things about this book.
“I’m just so ridiculously fertile, sometimes I wish I wasn’t so fertile!” While talking to a woman who said she wants children but doesn’t have them?! Read the room.
And let’s talk about what she calls her child… LITTLE TUNA. what?!?!? I kept thinking of Andy from The Office calling Jim “Big Tuna”. That was the dumbest nickname I’ve ever heard. And you’re not even supposed to have tuna while you’re pregnant, so why is she eating it everyday?! Weird weird weird.
Don’t get me started on Polly. The worst. I empathize with her wanting to have a baby, but she is so clearly unfit to be a mother if she’s willing to kill a woman to get the baby. Hank shouldn’t have just threatened to call her psychiatrist- he should have driven her to the mental hospital the second he realized what she was doing.
Honestly, so many terrible decisions made by all of the characters.
The whole storyline of Simon, Jackson, and Dennis was totally pointless. This was clearly just thrown in there so the book wouldn’t be a plagiarized version of Misery by Stephen King.
This book was 100% predictable and disappointing. It was all leading up to nothing.
Graphic: Child abuse, Confinement, Infertility, Suicidal thoughts, Car accident, Suicide attempt, and Pregnancy
Minor: Rape
