This is the most interesting iteration of the ‘zombie’ I have ever encountered. Ma also captures with haunting accuracy corporate and societal attitudes towards a world shattering epidemic. I can’t believe she wrote this in 2018. However, I wish there would’ve been a little more editing, the story felt too meandering and indulgently reflective at times. Nevertheless, I know this is a book that will stick with me for a while.
