Model Misfit by Holly Smale

4.0

If you are a fan of Louise Rennison's Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series, you will love this hilarious look into the teen modeling world with first class nerd Harriet Manners. So much fun to listen to!

Start to finish, this hilarious tale of klutzy and brainy model-in-the-making Harriet Manners is sure to please readers looking for realistic yet light-hearted. In this sequel to Geek Girl, British fifteen year old Harriet is recovering from heartbreak from her first crush with Nick, an Australian model who helped Harriett get her first break. Harriet is faced with a long summer while best friend Nat is away in France and Harriet’s parents are distracted preparing for a new baby. Harriet is adrift until she receives word from her agent that an important shoot in Japan is hers for the taking. Harriet jumps at the chance and so begins a constant barrage of self-induced calamities, back-stabbing hijinks by other models and the reemergence of Nick. Read by Katey Sobey, this story is not to be missed. Sobey handles several different characters with ease and provides many laugh aloud moments. This novel is distinctly innocent and fun with a great message that being a smart girl really is a la mode.
