You know you’re in for an emotional rollercoaster when you pick up a Laura Pavlov book. Just when you think you’ve got a handle on the story, she throws in another heart-tugging layer that takes it to a whole new level. Steal My Heart, the first book in her brand-new Rosewood Rivers series, is no exception. This soul-stirring, sometimes gut-wrenching enemies-to-lovers workplace romance stole my heart from the very first page.
The story follows Easton Chadwick, a ruthless and brilliant lawyer known as “The Shark” in the courtroom. Fans of Laura Pavlov’s Magnolia Falls series will recognise Easton as Emerson’s twin brother (Beating Heart, Book 4). Easton has kept his heart closed for years, haunted by his past. But when he’s tasked with mentoring Henley, a new lawyer who also happens to be the daughter of the firm’s owner, sparks fly immediately.
The chemistry between Easton and Henley is electric, and as their story unfolds, we’re treated to a masterful blend of passion, emotional depth, and a rich, compelling storyline. Both characters carry deep scars—Easton’s reasons for guarding his heart are heartbreaking, and Henley has her own fears and struggles that make her incredibly relatable.
What makes this book truly special is Ms Pavlov’s ability to create a world you want to live in. From the gripping courtroom scenes to the laugh-out-loud pickleball games, and the charming local touches like Edith and Oscar’s restaurant and the quirky shop names, Rosewood Rivers feels like a place you’d never want to leave. Plus, the guest appearance of Beefcake, Nash and Emerson’s adorable son, was a delightful surprise for Magnolia Falls fans.
The Chadwicks are a close-knit, wonderful family, and their bonds add so much heart to the story. Ms Pavlov’s signature blend of humour, romance, and emotional depth shines brightly here, making Steal My Heart an unforgettable start to the series. I can’t wait to see what’s next in Rosewood Rivers!
