CODE GEASS MENTION 🗣️🗣️🗣️ fr though, the general anime/yu-gi-oh! specific inspired vibes were so good, i grinned more than once. it’s for sure super modern w the references, but it doesn’t feel dated.
the writing was a little heavy handed/on the nose, but it is a middle grade book and it wasn’t too bad really. the amount of chinese history packed in there was cool too, and never felt too info-dumpy to me; i teared up more than once just imagining how cool this story must be for young chinese kids.
