I don't know how to rate this book. I am glad that I read this book without even knowing what it was about. If I would have read this is a thriller and the like, I am not sure I would have enjoyed it as much.
First off, this is not a thriller. Suspenseful at parts, sure. This story deals with the issues of getting pregnant, and I could feel the heartache. I didn't understand if Kate was such a feminist why there were comments where she says to herself she can dress like a slut if she wants to? This verbiage didn't sit right with me. The evil mother in law trope was an eyeroll as well. I know a lot of people feel some type of way about the mental illness being such a plot point in this book, but I however felt it was ok. As someone who has guardianship of thr kids of someone with a similar mental illness, i suppose I could empathize. I didn't get as attached to the characters as I would have liked, but overall this story just felt....real.
