Planting Gardens in Graves by r.h. Sin

2.0

I've seen R.H. Sin's poems online before and thought they were nice, so I wanted to read one of his poetry collections. What I noticed, is that these poems work when you see them on instagram or tumblr, when you read his words every once in a while, but as a collection, I wasn't a fan of this.

While reading, I thought there were couple different problems. The first part of the book seemed like it was written to woo over women. I get that reading poems about how strong you are and how beautiful you are, how you deserve a lot better, can really pick you up, but it didn't always feel sincere. (Especially the part where he told the reader how nice of a guy he is and hoped that men would get their shit together or they'd lose their women for guys like the author...)

The other part that got a bit annoying, was how repetitive the poems were. There would be poems that were pretty much identical, the same idea, the same emotion, just with couple different words. There were even parts where lines were repeated like that within one poem, just changing couple words.

I'm all for simple poetry, I like reading it and it's a great way to get into the world of poetry, if you've never read it before, but this wasn't that great. I know a lot of people say that Sin's poems are simple but packed with emotion and meaning, and sure, some of them are, but most of this collection just didn't hit the spot with me.
