I will admit this was a booktok recommendation I picked up because so many content creators I follow were considering this as one of the best books they read in 2021. I listened to the audiobook on libby. This is a beautiful modern day romance that will tug on your heart strings. Eva, an author living with chronic illness, reunites with another author, Shane, and together they spend seven days of reckoning as they relive their troubled youth and short-lived love. This story has both humor and grief, spicy moments and great dialogue about the Black experience in the publishing world.  In one scene, Eva is talking to a group of authors and they are discussing book endings and whether they prefer "Happily Ever After" or "Happier For Now" endings. I won't give spoilers away on how exactly this one ends but it made me think about my own preferred way of stories ending. Also, there are some aspects to their relationship, in my opinion, that are problematic and don't really get resolved, but overall I thought this was a wonderful read with dynamic main and supporting characters, and if you are looking for a love story, definitely check this one out.
