We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

4.0

i could give this book 5/5 if not because of "gat, my gat" which was repetitively mentioned. sad. shocking. plot-twist. simple but lovely. all the short stories about the king and his three beautiful daughters were so imaginative too. i swear to god i didn’t expect how this story or plot went like at all.

spoilers alerts//

this story was about four Liars which were cadence, johnny, mirren and gat. all of them were related by blood except for gat which was johnny's mom's boyfriend's nephew (phewsss). every summer they would come to the house (more like a palace) in the island which was owned by their grandfather, harris. harris was so damn rich that he could afford to give all his daughters trust funds for the lifetime. and he was a racist ass too.

okay since he was getting very older and would be gone like his wife too, he would then decide to pass the house to whoever he liked to. so, all three daughters, penelope, bess and carrie were non-stop arguing over it. candence thought it was about time to change the whole situation so she convinced the liars to burn down the house. no kidding. they managed to do it but there was an unforgettable tragic event came with it. and cadence had to live with it forever.

hence, i really enjoy reading it at 3 am *continues crying for cady*
