The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins

dark mysterious tense

4.75

This was such a weird, violent, and gritty book. I couldn’t put it down, and I think I will be mulling this one over for a long time.

one thing I struggled with was how quickly Father exited the storyline and was resolved of being a horrible figure. Torturing the Librarians was absolutely brutal and I kind of wanted carolyn to continue hating Father, or at least regretting the choices he made, regardless of the overall “master plan” that this supported. It seemed like the abuse Carolyn faced was the catalyst to the entire storyline, and I wanted to see her grapple with this a little more before everything smoothed out
