The Bookwanderers by Anna James
4.0

I instantly love any book where the main character is named Matilda, as I’m extremely fond of that particular Roald Dahl book.

Tilly Pages lives with her grandparents, who run a bookstore called Pages & Co. Her mother’s absence from her life is a mystery, but Tilly takes comfort from all of the stories surrounding her. When Alice in Wonderland and Anne of Green Gables suddenly show up at the shop one day, Tilly discovers she is a bookwanderer- she can follow characters into their stories and read herself into any book she pleases. Adventures ensue, and Tilly begins to uncover bits of the mystery of what happened to her mother all those years ago - but can she continue to wander in books when there is danger lurking in the pages?

Give to fans of The Book Jumper, or voracious readers with an affinity for fantasy and magic.
