Him by Elle Kennedy, Sarina Bowen
4.0

The narrators were both good but unobtrusive - in a good way.

A hockey romance (which I'm a sucker for) in which there's a second-chance romance and one of the pair discovers he's bi (and actually says it out loud).

I enjoyed the details, like the funny gifts they would send back and forth as well as the resolution to dilemma of the one not being sure he wanted to be a pro NHL athlete.

I really enjoyed this!!

I found out that there is a sequel while browsing Audible but the top review definitely does not sound like my cup of tea.

Spoiler This book implies an HEA but per the review, the sequel basically goes "but what if it wasn't an HEA?" and throws both guys back in the closet (then why the meeting with the publicist/wanting him to come out in this book...?), reduces communication between the two (which wasn't great to begin with) and basically throws up all these obstacles in their path that wasn't ... necessary.

I admit to being biased but it's my opinion that romance sequels need to have a reason for existing, i.e. an overarching plot line (see KJ Charles) that is not the romance itself. This is also why I'm less tolerant of longer romance novels that don't also have a secondary (or primary) plot point that isn't the romance. I can only handle about 6-8 hours (audiobook) of "romance only" before my brain revolts and goes "ok but where are the dragons? vampires? ...aliens???"

Again, my opinion, but: this book didn't need a sequel, so I won't be seeking it out. I'll definitely read more by these authors though!
