This whole book is so fucked up. It causes you to question why at literally every turn and you mostly never get answers, especially at the end. The characters do so much lying and pretending and sometimes they're completely oblivious to the entire situation. It's just so fucked up, but it forces you to think and I guess that's not an inherently bad thing.

Advice when reading: take breaks between chapters to process the events.
